Speed Activated Camera Data Reports

The Parish Council is mindful of the concerns that many residents have regarding the number of vehicles passing through the village and the excessive speed that regrettably some drivers choose to travel at.

Many residents will be aware that the council set up a ‘Community Speed Watch Group’ organised by Northamptonshire Police through their Safer Roads Enforcement Team. Along with  volunteer residents we carried out a number of speed checks utilizing the equipment provided during the summer and will be repeating this exercise again this year.

The council also ensures that its Speed Activated Traffic (MVAS) Sign is continually operating under licence from one of its number of designated locations in the High Street and The Green, as a deterrent. The sign illuminates when exceeding 30 mph and records the time, date, number of vehicles, and speeds of all vehicles. Whilst it is somewhat reassuring that the average speed of vehicles is in fact less than 30 mph, it never the less records a number of vehicles exceeding the speed limit.
